RIGIFLEX®-HP – steel multiple-disc coupling for difficult use cases and applications
Torsionally rigid, backlash-free high performance steel multiple-disc clutch for high-speed and demanding drives
The RIGIFLEX®-HP steel multiple-disc clutch is a high-performance coupling for extremely rapidly rotating drives and high torques. The RIGIFLEX®-HP couplings are usually balanced according to the balancing methods recommended according to API 671.
Commonly used methods for balancing are:
- Individual part balancing
- Overall balancing to check the balancing of individual parts. When doing so, note that corrections to the balancing can only be performed on the individual parts.
- Overall balancing with balancing correction for entire coupling
- Other customised balancing procedures can also be performed
For the coupling design, the axial natural frequency – critical speed – is to be checked. According to API 671, the critical speed should be +/- 10% beyond 1x and 2x the operating speed of the drive.
The RIGIFLEX®-HP is usually designed with bevel bore holes for an oil press fit. Alternatively, featherkey connections, flange connections, or mechanical locking elements / clamping sets are of course also possible.
