BFK552 spring-applied brake
Compact, powerful, reliable – specifically for logistics applications
The compact BFK552 spring-applied brake has been designed for use in stacking lift trucks and aerial work platforms, but it is also suitable for other applications where there is limited installation space. As a fully installable unit, this brake saves time during mounting and augments safety.
Function description:
This brake is an electrically releasable spring-applied brake with a rotary brake disk that is outfitted with friction linings on both sides (rotor). In a deenergised state, the rotor is tensioned between the armature plate and a counter friction face by a braking normal force applied by compression springs. Hence, its function corresponds to the fail-safe principle.
The braking torque applied to the rotor is transmitted to the drive shaft via a toothed hub.
The brake can be used as a holding brake and for emergency stops from high speeds.
The asbestos-free friction linings ensure a reliable braking torque and low wear.
In order to release the brake, the armature plate is lifted off the rotor electromagnetically (release). The rotor, which is axially displaceable and thereby relieved of the spring pressure, can turn freely.
